When Yellow Meets Blue...

Hi everyone, Happy Saturday!

Hope you are having a great weekend! :)

I am actually writing this post in Starbucks right now since we don't have internet access at home anymore. As Mr.S and I are going back to Ontario this coming Monday, we have cancelled our internet services. (Life without internet doesn't seem as brutal till it actually happens LOL)

But instead of flying back, we've decided to make this going-home journey a road trip.

Driving our stuff (furnitures, cloths, and YES, our cat Yoda) across the country may sound like a fun adventure, but it also requires a lot of planning and may even turn into something intimidating. (ewww) But well, we will keep an open heart and a spontaneous mind to embrace and enjoy this trip. I will definitely share the experience with you once we arrive in Toronto.

If you'd like to be on this journey with us, please follow me on Instagram. :)

Lately, I've been crazy about the Blue-and-yellow colour combo as yellow is warm and bright so that it can not only embody a shinny morning but can even lighten up a gloomy Summer day.

However, yellow by itself may seem too frivolous and attention-grabbing. But since blue plays a heavier and sedate tone, the whole outfit is transformed to a playful yet classy look. This truly reminds me of a perfect love relationship when a couple completed each other, and together they combined to an angle that enhanced their individual qualities.

Thank you so much for reading. I will talk to you all on the other side of Canada. :)

Less Is More

Hi everyone, Happy Monday!

Hope you all had an awesome weekend! :)

Minimalist vibe, one of 2013's Spring/Summer trends, has been taken very seriously on all the runways and by off-duty models, bloggers, and celebrities. Why? Because it not only embraces the idea that chicness can also be brought out by simple and breezy pieces, and most importantly, it's weather appropriate. Two of my favourite designers, Helmut Lang and 3.1 Phillip Lim are no strangers to clean-cut and "less is more" design and their new collections have taken minimalism onto a literal level. It's really good to see high-end garments not only can shine on the runways, but also be practical for everyday people to purchase.

I always believe fashion is a wearable art. With many architectural-inspired fashion designers emerged over the years, fashion and architecture play an ensemble in harmony. In my outfit today, I made no hesitation to pair this white top with a pair of high waist suit shorts to create a simple minimalism-inspired look.

I fell in love with this top from the first sight. Not only the detailed design around the neckline and the three-dimensional patterns on it caught my eye,  it was also the architectural touch and tough-look structure really made it special.

So what do you think about minimalist fashion trend? Love it? Hate it?

Thank you so much for reading! Hope all of you will have a great week. :)

Candy Colours

Hi everyone, happy Friday!

Hope you all had a wonderful week. Any plans for the weekend?

After a long consideration and discussion, Mr. S and I have finally decided to move back to Toronto, a place where we have many undeniable connections with. This year in Alberta (first Edmonton, then Calgary) has definitely been a roller coster journey. But all in all, we have experienced a lot and met many unforgettable and amazing people.

Most importantly, our connection with Calgary has been growing closer through this blog. By accidentally discovering or purposely looking for a photo shoot spot, we have found many beautiful corners in the city, lots of good local restaurants and coffee shops, and sometimes discovered the sketchy parts of the town...

Bright colours can not only stand out easily, but there is a study also shows that wearing bright colours can make people happier. I am not sure if it's true or not, but this theory seems work for me. I would even wear a neon pink dress or a bright red coat in the Winter while most people choose to rock in dark colours. To me, bright colours can truly help me to combat with winter blue. :)

These two weeks have been quite stressful to us as we have to deal with thousand things at the same time and mingle with so many "if"s. What if this happens...what if this plan doesn't work...what if we do this instead of that...Sigh! :(

BUT, I do believe everything will work out eventually. So I put on some very bright colours today, making a statement and starting a war with my bad mood. Negativity, frustration, stress...please go away....

Thank you so much for reading! Hope all of you will have a wonderful weekend. :)
If this week didn't go too well and you are having some bad times, maybe you can try putting on some bright colours? Let me know if it helps. :)

Black and Blue

Hi everyone, Happy Monday!

Hope you all had an awesome weekend. :)

My Fashion inspiration could come from anyone, anywhere and anytime... Once Coco Chanel has said:
"Fashion is not something exits in the dress only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street..."
This saying has truly inspired me and motivated me to learn to observe and appreciate anything around me, such as the colours of flowers, sunset, and even bubble tea LOL
One time while I was passing by a spot that has a black handrail and blue wall in between two buildings, I immediately thought of this black and blue colour combo.

But trust me, although I do get inspired by many things I see everyday, I sometimes could also be the girl standing in front of my closet and thinking of what to wear...haha

Crop top has always been one of my favourite pieces as it generally creates an illusion of a higher waistline and longer legs. This crop knitwear and zebra mini skirt plays an ensemble of a tough and sweet look. :)

Comfort Zone

Hi everyone, Happy Friday!

Hope you all will have an awesome weekend ahead. :)

I have always had a crazy obsession with black-and-white print skinny pants as they just naturally and effortlessly bring out a classy feel. But since the print can play an optical illusion and make things appear larger than they actually are, and especially for someone who doesn't have the perfect skinny long model legs, I always chose to just appreciate them closely in stores and was never brave enough to actually pull the trigger and purchase one.

Is there any piece that you always have an eye on but never dare to try?

BUT (I like a story with a "but"), the other day when I walked in Topshop during their summer sale, I discovered this pair of pants for only $30 (original was $90) and the last one happened to be my size. So I immediately decided to give it a shot by thinking that if it doesn't look good, I wouldn't waste too much money.

I am so happy I made this decision. :) You never try, you never know. This theory doesn't only apply in life, but also in fashion. Stepping out of our comfort zone sometimes can be very difficult and might take much encouragement and faith, but again, the outcome might be different from what we thought.

Thank you so much for reading! Hope you all are enjoying a great Summer day!

Day to Night

Hi everyone,

Happy Friday!!! While you are reading this post, Mr.S and I are probably enjoying our first time at one of the biggest Cowboy parties in the world-Calgary Stampede with millions of people. Yah Hoo!

People from all around the world have taken work days off and have flown thousand miles to here just to witness the authentic cowboy culture and to be part of this unique 10 day long event. The parade route is just out front of our building and everything is steps away from our comfort home. :)

As I am unemployed at the moment, shopping for all the new Summer collections seems a very luxury thing to do right now. This situation actually reminds me of those days when I was at school and didn't have too much cash. I had to mix and match all the pieces I already had to create all kinds of looks with limited resources. But I truly enjoyed it as it felt like playing dress up and was an opportunity to be creative and to think out side of the box. Try this, try that, see if these two match, or those pieces work together...It WAS fun :)

I went through my closet and found this little floral dress that I got three years ago. The texture and design make this dress look very beach-appropriate (it WAS from Hollister overall), so in order to transform it to a more dressy look, of course, accessories are very essential. :)
